–The eagerness to help is still big. It was noticed when Takatikkiläiset and Tilkaplikat made an enormous amount of wool socks and baby bags for the kids and mothers in Ukraine, says Riitta Härkälä, the leader of craft association Takatikki, proudly.

The crafts made during the fall and winter were sent to Ukraine with a relief transport organised by a taxi entrepreneur from Huittinen.

The handicraft enthusiasts made 235 pairs of wool socks and 27 baby bags.

–The baby bags were sewn by the Tilkaplikat. They also made the babies small patchwork quilts. The Takatikkiläiset knitted a pair of wool socks to be put into the bag for the mother and baby and an octopus stuffed toy. A bib and a few hygiene products were also added to the bag.

Härkälä said, that the baby bags were something new for them and people were very excited to make them. She hopes that the eagerness to help stays as strong.

–Wool socks were knitted in the association’s knitting cafe, Neulekahvila, and many knit diligently at home, too. Some knit up to ten pairs of socks. Takatikki gave yarn for them, but some also bought their own.

–I believe that the receivers of the bags and socks will appreciate our work and feel that someone is thinking about them.

Earlier, Takatikki has sent wool socks for the Ukraine front.
