The welfare area of Satakunta wants to speed up getting help with digital service.

The welfare area of Huittinen is starting to use digital healthcare service and doctors can work from home from now on and that has raised worry.

Our goal is for people to get to the doctor as fast as possible and with minimal effort, comments senior physician, Juha Jaatinen, about the digital service now available in the welfare area of Satakunta.

Jaatinen from Huittinen has been taking care of recruiting new doctors in the welfare area since October.

Finland has a shortage of doctors, but it hasn’t been hard to find doctors to work in Huittinen.

The health centre of Huittinen has seven outpatient doctors at the moment, and Jaatinen states that the number will remain the same in the future, because Huittinen is one of the municipalities in Satakunta that is allowed to keep its health centre.

So, including digital services in the toolbox won’t lessen the local services.

A new service called Minun hyvinvointi (My wellbeing) will be introduced later this month. This means that the doctor and the patient can be in contact through messages.

The goal is for the patient to get an answer within two hours, says Jaatinen.

Jaatinen states that even two hours of waiting may be too long. Then, of course, you have to go to the emergency room or call an ambulance. Not everyone has strong identification either. They cannot use digital services.

The fact that doctors can now work entirely from home doesn’t mean that you will never see them, either.

The simplest cases can be treated remotely and patients who need a face-to-face meeting can be guided to the right treatment path. When the treatment relationship begins, it is intended that the same professional continues with the patient from beginning to end, says Jaatinen.
