The hospitals in Huittinen are overcrowded

Translation Vilja Vartia (original article Pauliina Vilenius)

The number of coronavirus infections has increased in the Satakunta welfare area. The joint emergency room at Satasairaala is crowded, and the specialized hospital wards of Satasairaala and the basic level wards located in different parts of Satakunta are overloaded.

The load situation affects the arrangements for the clients' care facilities and emergency services, the welfare area informs.

When the client's period of special medical care at Satasairaala ends, we always try to transfer him to a basic level follow-up care facility located closest to his place of residence. At the moment, however, it is not always possible, and in these cases the client is referred for follow-up treatment to another bed department in the welfare area.

–This ensures that patients who need immediate urgent specialized medical care can be placed in Satasairaala without jeopardizing patient safety, the release states.

You should only go to the emergency room for a sudden illness or injury that requires immediate medical attention on the same day.

Before leaving for the emergency room, you should always first call the costless emergency help number 116 117.

In serious cases, when an ambulance is needed, for example in chest pain or serious difficulty in breathing, you should call the emergency number 112, informs the welfare area.
