The change in meal service has significant influence on a transport entrepreneur in Huittinen.

In the start of February, Kuljetuspalvelu Petri Heino Ky is facing a tough situation. At least two employees must be fired as the workload decreases.

–Let's see if we have to fire a third one, Petri Heino frets.

This is the result of the competitive tendering of the home delivery meal service in the welfare area of Huittinen. The contract was awarded to Mehiläinen Ateriaali, the only one that made an offer. It now delivers meals to 1 200 customers in Satakunta.

There are almost a hundred of these customers, elderly people living at home, in Huittinen. They will now get their meals cold once a week, as before the food has been prepared at a nearby kitchen and delivered warm.

–There was also a notification from Kuninkaisten service center, saying the deliveries will end. Mehiläinen Ateriaali will deliver the meals in the future. The service center is located a few hundred meters from the Kuninkainen kitchen.

In November, Pirjo Rehula, the manager responsible for home services for the elderly in the welfare district, explained the goals of the change in the Lauttakylä newspaper (LL 29.11.2023).
